Coal preparation and water

Test the trips before commissioning.

Model coal preparation and water systems with reusable equipment definitions. Test start sequences and fault responses in simulation, then generate controller code and operator screens from the same model.

Public beta for evaluation, simulation and supervised commissioning trials. Production control stays on your existing system.

Two processes to start with.

Model the equipment, the signals it depends on and the sequences that connect it. Start with a circuit you know, alongside your existing SCADA.

Coal preparation

Test the route from start-up to trip.

A product conveyor trips on belt drift. The upstream equipment should stop in sequence, the alarm list should identify the initiating fault, and the operator should be able to inspect the conditions before reset.

Build that route from the materials-handling and wet-processing libraries. Each equipment definition carries its relevant tags, alarms, commands, faceplate and simulation profile.

  • Feeders, weightometers, crushers and screens
  • Conveyors, chutes and stockpiles
  • Dense-medium cyclones, magnetic separators and thickeners

The CHPP model has exercised the belt-drift trip, cascade stop and reset in simulation. Generated controller code and Ignition configuration connect the engineering model to the intended operator workflow.

Water management

Check the pump sequence before site.

Use the dam pump-station model to investigate duty/standby changes, valve sequencing and level conditions. Review the logic in simulation before commissioning the physical installation.

Bring the water circuit and its instruments into the same model as the process they supply.

  • Centrifugal pumps and VFD motors
  • Motorised valves and storage tanks
  • Level, pressure and flow instruments

The dam station was our first end-to-end proving ground for the PLC, edge, site server and cloud. The edge buffers data during outages and forwards retained samples when connectivity returns; storage capacity limits how much it can retain.

What the demonstration proves.

The coal preparation model contains 33 process devices. Evidence from simulation and physical controllers is recorded separately.

Simulation

Belt-drift trip, upstream cascade stop, alarms and reset have been exercised on the CHPP model. This demonstrates the modeled control response.

Controller connection

The materials-handling devices are connected to a physical ControlLogix through the workshop edge. The wet side remains simulation-driven; connection alone does not establish a complete hardware fault-scenario proof.

Advisory AI

Cloud and on-site advisory have been demonstrated separately. The CHPP advisory act remains pending. AI can recommend an investigation or action; it cannot execute an equipment command.

The workshop model uses simulated process inputs. Field wiring, instruments, timing and site-specific safety functions still require commissioning checks. Full capability and availability details →

The same device model can support other industries as library coverage grows. See planned libraries for water utilities, gas and data centres →
